A regiment of volunteer soldiers from the Caribbean was stationed in Seaford during World War I. Last year in October Cllr Edwina Livesey organised an exhibition about these soldiers in Lewes. This year we are working to bring the exhibition to Seaford, the home of the regiment.

After a meeting arranged by the Anti-Racism Alliance to examine the materials The Seaford Museum and History Society has agreed to collate the collection of relevant materials and place them in their archive for public access.

Working in collaboration with Everybody’s Seaford, we have gained permission from Seaford Head School to hold a one-hour session for their students about the regiment.

On Monday 12 January 2025, Seaford Climate Hub hosted a viewing of the materials to bring together those who would be willing to collaborate on bringing the exhibition to Seaford. 20-30 people came in the course of the evening and a few signed up to join a planning group. This will be a joint project of the Lewes District Anti-Racism Alliance and Everybody’s Seaford.
