The strength of the Lewes District Anti‑Racism Alliance (LDARA) lies in our network — individuals and organisations working side by side to challenge racism, promote equality, and build inclusive communities.
Whether you’re a local group, a community leader, or a resident who wants to make a difference, there’s a place for you in the alliance.
Your Questions, Answered
-
LDARA is a coalition of local individuals, groups, and organisations working together to challenge racism and promote racial justice in the Lewes District and beyond. We believe in turning solidarity into action — through education, advocacy, and community events.
-
Anyone who shares our commitment to equality and anti‑racism is welcome to join — whether you’re an individual, a community organisation, a faith group, or a business.
-
We organise events, workshops, and campaigns that raise awareness of racial inequality and celebrate diversity. We also lobby local councils, MPs, and service providers on race equality issues, and collaborate with groups such as Lewes Refugee Support Group, Stand Up To Racism (SUTR), and Culture Connect.
-
You can join as an individual member or affiliate your organisation to the alliance. Members can participate in meetings, contribute ideas, or help run campaigns and events.
-
Not at all. We welcome people from all backgrounds and experience levels. All you need is a willingness to learn, listen, and work collaboratively for change.
-
We host and support community events throughout the year, including UN Anti‑Racism Day, Refugee Week, Black History Month, and Holocaust Memorial Day. We also hold public meetings and educational sessions in response to current issues.
-
We’re a volunteer‑led organisation supported by annual membership fees, donations, and small grants. Every contribution helps us organise community events and campaigns.
