PROTEST AGAINST MATT GOODWIN

Matt Goodwin was invited to speak to an audience of Reform members and voters at the Seaford Head Golf Club on Thursday 25 June. Matt Goodwin is a divisive figure, who is known for his retrograde views on women, his Islamophobic statements and his anti-migrant rhetoric.

A community gathering took place on a green space on the route to the Golf club. There was music, colourful banners and placards promoting peace, hope and respect. Many cars driving past honked their support.  

Outside the Golf Club, a protest called by Stand Up to Racism groups from across Sussex and supported by Sussex Women against the Far Right confronted those attending the event with anti-racist slogans.

As the start time for the event approached, several of those attending the community event joined the protest at the door of the Golf Club.
