Film Night

In collaboration with the Lewes Refugee Support Group (previously LOSRAS) we organised a film night at the Hillcrest Centre, Newhaven, in July. Two films made by refugees about their experiences in this country were shown followed by talks and discussions with the filmmakers.

About 60 people attended the event and expressed their responses to the films:

• It was very brave for the people in both films to talk about their experiences.

• In the films we saw something from the lives of people we would not see when we meet them. There is a gap between their experience and our perception of them.

• People in the local community now have a better understanding of the experience of refugees. The local community can be a network that supports the healing.
