We All Belong
On Saturday 21st March, United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, a hundred people came out in Newhaven to stand against hate and discrimination and for love and kindness. The event, organised by Lewes District Anti-Racism Alliance and Newhaven Stand Up to Racism showed the strength of feeling against racism and hate with speeches and song.
Film Night
In collaboration with the Lewes Refugee Support Group (previously LOSRAS) we organised a film night at the Hillcrest Centre, Newhaven, in July. Two films made by refugees about their experiences in this country were shown followed by talks and discussions with the filmmakers.
UN Anti-Racism Day Action
On Saturday 16th March The Lewes District Anti-Racism Alliance held a march along the West Quay in Newhaven to mark United Nations Anti-Racism Day, held each year to remember the 21st March 1960 Sharpeville Massacre in apartheid South Africa.
